The Emblem

In 1964, AEL FC with her establishment, had the first letters as emblem, AEL. However, the choice of crimson color as the base colour, derived from the Byzantine imperials crimson that was be painted in Ampelakia of Larissa, gave the idea of a heroic emblem also. For this reason it was selected the Thessaly proud steed, descendant of Bucephalus, as horses of Larissa’s plain was especially renowned in antiquity. Besides, most currencies of ancient Larissa had horses’ illustrations. The final form of AEL’ s emblem, was finalized in 1972 and depicts the untamed steed of Larissa’s plain to neigh triumphantly raised on its hind legs.
