Nicolás Martínez Interview

The Panetolikos midfielder Nicolás Martínez answered the questions of the fans in his exclusive interview for the official website of the Super League www.superleaguegreece.net and pointed out that his side must improve even more in the coming season: "We need to be competitive and to fight even more to be among the top 5-6 clubs of the championship. This means that our home and away results need to be on the same level." Nicolás also talked about the exceptional atmosphere in Agrinio by saying how much faith everyone puts in him. "This makes me feel comfortable and I believe this is proven by my performance on the pitch."

What do you believe should be the goal of Panetolikos for the following season?

- I believe that we need to be competitive and to fight even more to be among the top 5-6 clubs of the championship. This means that our home and away results need to be on the same level.

Do you believe that the boost offered by the fans together with 2-3 good additions in the roster are enough for the team to take the extra step and try to qualify for the European competitions?

- A few transfers or the efforts of the players are not enough. This depends on a combination of many factors such as the boost offered by the fans, a quality roster, proper guidance and lots of work, from everyone working in the team.

Are you satisfied with your presence in Panetolikos? Would you wish to remain in the club the following season as well?

- I feel satisfied by what I have offered so far. I hope I will be even better after preparing with the team and that I will be able to offer more during the following season. To offer our fans more beautiful moments and joy.

Which position do you enjoy playing in and why?

- I feel comfortable when having a freeplay role behind the striker, but I can equally play well from the wings. It depends on the team's needs and from what the coach is asking of me.

Do you believe that we will see an even better Martínez during the next season?

- I will work hard so that the fans and supporters of Panetolikos can see an even better Martínez.

What does it take to make a good footballer? What would you advise a young player that wishes to play professionally?

- He needs to train hard. He has to be down to earth. He needs to be patient. He needs to have a proper diet and to rest, as is required of a professional player.

Although you have only played nine matches as a player of Panetolikos, you have made your presence felt and the fans support you. What would you like to say to them?

- I wish to thank them for their support and to tell them that I will do all I can to help the team and to make them all happy.

What is your opinion on the club's presence this season?

- We played good football, but we may have needed to be more focused in some matches. I believe we have a better side than most clubs of the league.

What is your highlight as a footballer in your opinion?

- I had my first highlights when playing for Independiente. It was when we played and won the Sudamericana final against Gojas. I also have many important moments here in Agrinio, because I can see how much faith everyone puts in me. This makes me feel comfortable and I believe this is proven by my performance on the pitch.

Were you not a professional footballer, what would you rather be and why?

- Nothing but football! I've been playing football since I can remember myself.
