Tasos Bakasetas Interview

"We want Asteras to be an even greater club with each passing year," pointed out the striker of Asteras Tripolis, Tasos Bakasetas, in his exclusive interview for the official website of the Super League. When asked on whether the players are anxious about the fact that the aspirations of the club are bigger with each passing year, he replied that: "Α player is happy when the club has aspirations from him because he evolves together with the club," while he spoke highly of the club coach, Mr Sakis Tsiolis, by saying that: "Mr Tsiolis is a coach, who from the very first months in the club, instilled directly his philosophy to the players and since it is the results that count, the results these last years have proven that Mr Tsiolis is one of the most successful coaches in Greece." What is your goal for this season? How far do you think the club can go?

Based on the club's display last season, Asteras has set the standards very high and our goal this season is to do better than last year. We want Asteras to be an even greater club with each passing year.

Are you satisfied with the attendance in the stadium and the support you have from the fans of the club so far?

The fans have played a very significant role in the most important matches of Asteras. They stood by our side, especially during the Cup Final. We want the fans to continue like this and to support us equally strongly in all championship matches, as much as possible.

Do you get anxious over the fact that the demands in the club rise with each passing year?

Α player is happy when the club has aspirations from him because he evolves together with the club. I would not say anxious, but a player who wishes to set goals in his career, has more responsibilities.

We see the club celebrating each goal wildly. Is this your way to let off steam?

It all depends to the goal we score, how important that goal is and of course whether it defines the final outcome. In any case, a goal is the greatest joy for a player.

What did you earn from playing in the U-20 World Cup?

World Cup is the top competition for any player and any player's dream is to participate in it. I was lucky and honoured to play with the U-20 Greek National Team in this celebration of world football and hope to live this experience again in the future.

 

What is your opinion on this season's championship so far and what do you see for the future?

It is an uncertain championship which is better in comparison to last season. Each team has had really good players added to its roster and, as we have seen so far, we have high quality footballers playing in Greece. My opinion is that this championship will be exciting until the very last matchday and that Asteras will be one of the clubs in the forefront this season as well.

 

Do you believe that in football it is only the result that counts or should this be combined with attractive playing?

We know that in football it is the outcome that counts, but if a club can combine this with attractive playing, then the gain for this club is double.

 

Where and how do you see yourself in 5-6 years from now?

I will certainly be involved with football and depending on my progress, I wish to continue being in Asteras with which I have bonded a lot these last years while being part of its roster; or else to play for an international club thus fulfilling one of my dreams.
