THANASIS PAPAZOGLOU INTERVIEW

The OFI striker Thanasis Papazoglou answers the questions of the fans in his exclusive interview for the official website of the Super League www.superleaguegreece.net and says that "the atmosphere in the T. Vardinoyannis stadium is amazing and reminds of other fiery home stadiums that few Super League clubs have." The 24-year-old player reveals the reason why he accepted to play for OFI since "it is a great club with history and fans and I will consider it very seriously to remain in the club the following season," while revealing who Zera is who "plays a really important role in my life."

Are you satisfied with your choice to come to OFI? Would you like to stay in the club the following season too?

"I am quite satisfied with my decision to come to OFI. It is a great club with history and fans and I will consider it very seriously to remain in the club the following season."

What is the reason behind your decision to come to OFI?

"I wanted to participate actively in a major Super League club, I appreciated the interest shown by OFI people and coach and thus came to my decision."

What is your opinion on the squad's performance so far?

"I can say that we have a noteworthy presence so far, we improve with each passing day and we believe that we will get even better in the future."

Do you believe that OFI will easily secure its placement in the 1st division?

"Yes, I believe that our placement is secure and that it is a pity for such major clubs with so many fans to be threatened with demotion."

Do you believe that through OFI you have a chance to prove your worth and be given the opportunity to earn your participation in the National Team?

"If I continue playing well in the matches and scoring many goals, OFI is a club that can help you with a possible call to play in the Greek National Team."

You hadn't scored any goals during the first matchdays. In your opinion, was this a matter of psychology or just rough luck?

"It is a matter of coincidences; scoring is also a matter of psychology for a striker."

How hard or easy is it for a player when the team decides to play with only one striker? Is it stressful or does this confidence to you, gives you strength?

"Both. On the one hand it is stressful because all the offensive part is your responsibility, but on the other hand it is nice to be trusted to be the only striker waiting to score all goals."

How do you feel every time you enter the pitch of Theoros Vardinoyannis Stadium and what are your impressions from the atmosphere created by the fans?

"The atmosphere is amazing and reminds of other fiery home stadiums that few Super League clubs have."

I believe that this will be one of the best seasons in your football career. In case you do this, what are your plans for the future? Will you remain in the club or will you try to get a good transfer?

"My first thought is to help my club in every match and after that, I have not thought about what I could do. Although every player always has aspirations and that is the only way he can improve."

In your opinion, what is the reason that your performance is better this season in comparison to previous seasons?

"The first and foremost reason is the continuous matches, and the fact that the coach shows that he trusts me and that we are a family. This way, we know each other better in the pitch and as a result my teammates help me as well."

Was your career easy as a footballer? What were your feelings when you reached the level you are at today? Also, if you could change something in your football career, would you do that? And why?

"My career so far has not been easy at all; I faced several difficulties that helped me become who I am today. I am now satisfied with myself to a great degree, I do not think I would change something because my belief is that anything that happens, either good or bad, happens so you can learn something from it."

What is the thing that urges a player to give more during a match? Is it the fans, the club's performance, the climate in the team, the personal aspirations or his personal ego?

"All these play a really significant part so that a footballer can play well in a match."

Is there an international major club that would you like to play for and why?

"I would like to play for Arsenal, firstly because this is my favourite club since I was a little boy and secondly because the English Premier League is in my opinion possibly the best European football championship."

How do you feel playing in an island, away from your homeland?

"It is definitely very difficult to be staying in a place away from your homeland, but I am very satisfied with my life in this particular island and have no complaints."

What is the meaning of your tattoos for you?

"The one on my ribs is a papyrus reading "Only God Can Judge Me" and I had this one because I have been and will continue to be under heavy criticism. But I believe that anyone should criticise themselves. The second one is on my arm and I had the words "family" and "friends" tattooed since both are really important to me."

Is it true that you love animals? If so, do you have a pet? What do you call your pet and how important is it to you?

"I really love animals, especially dogs and I have a Rottweiler called Zera. And I would like to get more pets. Zera is really important to me."
